About caroleparkes

My husband calls me a butterfly because I flit from one hobby to another. Apart from being a wife for 52 years, a mother of three sons, and a grandmother, I'm also an author, genealogist, amateur artist, a lover of most needlecrafts, and occasional poet. Of the above, my most enduring interest has been writing and I hope to be doing it well into old age.

  1. Thank you for following my blog. I like your set up and enjoyed learning about Tissue of Lies. You have promise as an artist as well.

  2. That’s EXCELLENT for a first? That doesn’t look for like a first – you’re very talented!

    • Thank you so much for that kind comment. I was sixteen when I painted that, and my second attempt was a self portrait. My husband (then my boyfriend) bought me the oil paints as a present as I had expressed a desire to try. I only ever painted the two pictures in oils though as I found the length of time it took to dry frustrating. I didn’t take up painting again until I was nearly sixty. I now find I love it, but I always choose acrylic paints.
