One Lovely Blog Award

one_lovely_blog_award

Thank you Emilia Leigh, London based writer, blogger, and dreamer, who nominated me for this ‘One Lovely Blog’ award. Her blog is at http://www.emilialeigh.com/the-last-beginning/blog I’m delighted to receive this award as it’s my first as a blogger, so thank you again Emilia.

To fulfil the conditions of the award, I have to thank the person who nominated me, share seven facts about myself, and then nominate other blogs I love to read. I also have to give links to their websites.

I’ve already thanked Emilia who is writing a novel and has an interesting blog where she posts the events of each month in photos. Now I’ll just get on with the seven facts about me:

1. I’m not a great fan of romantic novels, although I once won a competition on Radio Merseyside for writing a romance plot.

2. I resumed my education at the age of 40, taking ‘O’ levels in English, consumer law,  and maths. I then  took ‘A’ levels in government and politics and sociology before starting a degree in sociology. I quit my degree course after the first year owing to family commitments.

3. I have a fair skin and so I’m likely to burn in the sun. I’ve been diagnosed with Bowen’s disease which means I have to watch for changes in my skin that could lead to cancer. I’ve had several small growths frozen or removed.

4. I hate talking on the phone. I like to read body language and facial expressions when I’m conversing with people.

5. I love bright jewel colours; my favourite is purple.

6. I’m 5 feet 1 inch in height.

7. I’d rather live in the countryside than in a town or city.

Now my seven facts are revealed, all that remains is for me to name my nominees for the ‘One Lovely Blog’ award;  so here goes.

http://thestoryreadingapeblog.com/ This Url will take you to Chris Graham’s wonderful blog. He’s an author who helps other authors in several ways; guest blogs, reblogs, professional editor’s tips, and his wonderful ‘halls of fame’ which feature every author he’s had on his guest blog.

http://seumusgallacher.com/  Seumus Gallacher’s writing voice will have you giggling all day. In his own words he’s a  “Longtime nutcase, author, weekend TV football couch potato, amateur guitarist, professional screamer at Sky News garbage, Billy Connolly devotee”. He also helps other authors get noticed.

About caroleparkes

My husband calls me a butterfly because I flit from one hobby to another. Apart from being a wife for 52 years, a mother of three sons, and a grandmother, I'm also an author, genealogist, amateur artist, a lover of most needlecrafts, and occasional poet. Of the above, my most enduring interest has been writing and I hope to be doing it well into old age.

Thank you Jane. You have such a heart warming blog site I had to keep on reading many different posts. We seem to share the same outlook on life; I also believe life is what you make it rather than how others make it for you.

Your daughter Emily sounds sweet sending you lots of paintings, butterflies and other mementoes. I’m happy you’ve found a soul mate to share your life in North Wales. I love North Wales. When I was about five, my parents bought a caravan in Talacre, Point of Ayr. We have many happy memories of our times there. I was about 25 when they had to sell it. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog. ❤

Oh Carole, thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. I have just finished a Skype call with Emily and she has rescued me. I am getting back into painting and I was stuck…she has given me some invaluable advice and I’m off to have another go. I have found your blog heart warming too and I think this Global Village here has so many golden connections. It’s all about love flowing isn’t it? I have found joy in North Wales, it is a special place and I am glad you have heart memories from being here too. ❤

I do hope you enjoy your painting experiences. I just love messing about with it. I have no idea when I start if the images will work, but it doesn’t matter if they don’t.

Yes, you’re right about the golden connections. There are so many warm hearted and talented people all around us. It’s a pleasure to meet them all.

Congratulations, Carole, and thank you for giving me honorable mention. This is my second nomination this week, so I feel very honored – and humbled. I would like to carry the torch forward, but it may take awhile as I am helping my sisters handle the details of our mother’s estate. Again, congratulations, Carole!

No worries, It took me a while to get around to doing mine. I forgot to mention that nominees are supposed to link back to the nomminator’s post. I didn’t know how to do that, so I just tweeted my nominator.
