Original Acrylic Painting of Bodiam Castle, East Sussex, England

This is another photo of one of my paintings where the flash from my camera has reflected on the glass. Again, it’s in an appropriate place where a lot of these castles do have floodlights on their roofs. I should have photographed it before framing it though.

The information below is a small part of the topic on Bodiam Castle from Wikipedia:

Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years’ War. Of quadrangular plan, Bodiam Castle has no keep, having its various chambers built around the outer defensive walls and inner courts. Its corners and entrance are marked by towers, and topped by crenellations. Its structure, details and situation in an artificial watery landscape indicate that display was an important aspect of the castle’s design as well as defence. It was the home of the Dalyngrigge family and the centre of the manor of Bodiam.” See more on Wikipedia.

About caroleparkes

My husband calls me a butterfly because I flit from one hobby to another. Apart from being a wife for 52 years, a mother of three sons, and a grandmother, I'm also an author, genealogist, amateur artist, a lover of most needlecrafts, and occasional poet. Of the above, my most enduring interest has been writing and I hope to be doing it well into old age.

Thank you for your lovely comment. It means a lot to me when others enjoy my art. I enjoyed your ‘Ancestral Conversation’; it was a scene I could imagine happening. I have done my family trees and learned a lot about my ancestors.

I love the way you captured the colors of the sky against the castle. Did you visit the castle?
