The Versatile Blogger Award

I’ve seen how others react to awards, and to be honest I wasn’t exactly sure where I stood in the debate to accept or not accept them. Fulfilling their requirements takes time and effort, and most of us are already struggling with time management. However, the people who nominate us are exactly the ones we are blogging for. If you think I’m worthy of a nomination, then I thank you sincerely. I’ll happily juggle things around a bit to make time for the extra work. After all, I also get the chance to show my appreciation to the great bloggers who have followed me.

Versatile Blogger Award trophy

My thanks go to Edwina at http://edwinasepisodes.com/ for nominating me for the ‘Versatile Blogger Award’. See Edwina recite her poem on Youtube http://youtu.be/xGMU8Fz4u7g

To be eligible for this award, I have to complete the following rules found on https://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/vba-rules

1. Show the award on your blog. It can be copied from the above website.

2. Thank the person who nominated you.

3. Share seven facts about yourself.

4. Nominate 15 worthy bloggers, and include a link to their blog.

5. Let your chosen bloggers know you have nominated them.

6. Include a link to the Versatile Blogger Site. https://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/vba-rules

Seven little known facts about me.

1. I was a bit of a tomboy when I was young. I hung out with my older brother’s gang because there were no girls in my street. I could run and climb as good as any of them except my brother.

2. At nine, I was almost raped at knife point. The offenders, about 18 or 19 had me and my new friend on the floor. They were both holding a knife to our throats. We were saved by my dad who’d come looking for us. Thankfully, we were untouched.

3. At 12, I was chosen to join the 15 year old runners to represent our school in the inter-school relay race. We won badges and a place each on the runners training programme.

4. I was about 35 the last time I raced. I retired unbeaten in the traditional mum’s race on my children’s various sport’s days.

5. At almost 70, I still like to dance around the house to popular music; not a pretty sight, ha ha. My favourite at the moment is ‘All about the bass’, so you can imagine what I look like. Ugh!

6. I cut and colour my own hair, and rarely visit a hairdresser. Think of the money I’d save if I only had it in the first place.

7. I don’t like swearing in normal conversation but even I can slip up. There are enough words in the English language to avoid it.

My nominations

Chosen not only because of their blog sites’ interesting and unique content, but also because of the courteous way they are managed. Apologies for not managing fifteen. I think I may have slipped up and called this award the ‘Amazing Blogging Award’ when I’ve informed the nominees. I don’t know where that came from, but I’m sorry for the mistake. I hope you all accept the award, you deserve it.

About caroleparkes

My husband calls me a butterfly because I flit from one hobby to another. Apart from being a wife for 49 years, a mother of three sons, and a grandmother, I'm also an author, genealogist, amateur artist, a lover of most needlecrafts, and occasional poet. Of the above, my most enduring interest has been writing and I hope to be doing it well into old age.

Congratulations Carole! Thank you for sharing about your life. My heart goes out to you for what you experienced. But I do love that you will still dance around the house to all about the bass no less 🙂 You are inspiring.

We were allowed a lot more freedom when I was young, and I have to say there were three definite occasions where I was in potential danger and things could have turned out really badly for me. I see it as a good thing that young children are more closely watched nowadays. I’m happy you think I’m inspiring, but it could me I’m just a little bit crazy Kathleen!

  2. OOPS, I’m wrong! It’s the ‘Inspiring Blogger Award’ I have… So, I thank you for the nomination but will decline because I’m working on a book and don’t want to take the time to go through the requirements. I shall hold you close in my thoughts for the honor! All the best to you.

  3. Thank you, Carole, for the nomination – very nice of you. I already have the The Versatile Blogger Award, so I guess I won’t go through the work involved in the requirements… When I nominate you for a reward, there will be no requirement but to post the icon and maybe ‘thank me’. 🙂 Thanks again for the thought…I’m still honored!

  5. I love ‘All About The Bass’ too! Good for you for dancing around to it, If it makes you happy, why not! Thanks so much for giving my poem a mention, that was kind of you.
I’m so glad you accepted this award; it was lovely hearing more about you (although I was appalled at the ordeal you suffered at 9 years old. Thank God for your dad)!

I say ‘dancing’, but it involves very little feet movements, ha ha. Luckily, that near rape didn’t have any lasting effects on me. I was too young at the time to realise what they were doing. However I did have to visit the doctor who confirmed I was unharmed, and he told my parents I should know about the facts of life.

I was nominated once for an award but I couldn’t figure out how to put the award badge on my blog page. Kinda funny, really. It still makes me smile to think about it.
    Congratulations on your award!

I’m sad that you never actually received the award you were nominated for. You can still claim it if you can find the relevant post, or you know who nominated you. Just google the award’s title and you can usually find all the information you need there. You can even copy and paste the award from there. I pasted mine onto my desktop, and from there pasted it into my post.
