How do Tissue of Lies Cov 1Byou feel about updating new covers on existing books?

This is my existing cover for my first book ‘Tissue of Lies’. Now I’m about to publish a second book, I would like to update my first book’s cover. It was, after all, my very first attempt at a cover, and I have to own up to the fact that I didn’t put a great deal of effort into it. I just used a painting I had created years before and added a house.

I was wondering how readers feel about books having new covers. Do you have a strong opinion about this sort of thing, or do you think it doesn’t matter? I look forward to hearing your views.

About caroleparkes

My husband calls me a butterfly because I flit from one hobby to another. Apart from being a wife for 52 years, a mother of three sons, and a grandmother, I'm also an author, genealogist, amateur artist, a lover of most needlecrafts, and occasional poet. Of the above, my most enduring interest has been writing and I hope to be doing it well into old age.

  1. I really like this cover like someone else said. Maybe keep some of it and blend in new features from the story.

  2. I actually quite like this one Carole! If you are going to do a new cover though, you might want to take the opportunity to re proofread your book at the same time.

I think new book covers are a great idea Carole. Tastes change with times and there’s no reason an author can’t keep up. Or you may want to keep all your books under a style so they look good on shelves.
As long as readers don’t think it’s a new book and buy it in error they won’t mind.
    Good luck with it.
