I May Not Tell You I Love You
Carole Parkes
I may not tell you I love you
Perfect husband of many years,
But you see the peaceful calm we have
And also the lack of tears.
I may not tell you I love you
Precious children who are now grown,
Yet you knew it from my behaviour
The same way you treat your own.
I cannot tell you I love you
My dear parents sadly deceased,
Yet, you knew it from the care I gave
That my loving never ceased.
I may not tell you I love you
But you all know it in your hearts,
The fond memories you relate,
proof enough when the chatting starts.

Thank you, Kathleen! When my 3 boys got to the stage where they didn’t want to be hugged, I stopped doing it. Now they’re married and have children of their own, they have started hugging me. I didn’t realize how much I missed it. It’s just lovely that they made the first move to hug again, so now I feel I can hug them without causing them embarrassment.
